Today I am in Rome at the Italian Ministry of Agriculture to attend the International meeting beetween ALGOA-Asian Local Governments for Organic Agriculture for #OrganicAgriculture and IN.N.E.R. – International Network of Eco Regions.
Local authorities play an crucial role in developing the #OrganicSector, economically (supporting the #organic market with #PublicProcurement), socially (reconnecting citizens & farmers) and from an health perspective (securing no harmful substances are used in rural areas).
Similar to the experiences developed in #ALGOA, the organic district shows that #OrganicFarming can be the “trait d’union” between local community, farmers, HORECA & other local actors. All working together to empower rural communities & create sustainable local #FoodSystems.
IN.N.E.R. & ALGOA decided to cooperate closely to promote a wider adoption of these practices & disseminate them in other continents. IFOAM EU, IFOAM Asia and IFOAM – Organics International encourage this alliance and will monitor its development.
Together, we all will #MakeThePlanetMoreOrganic!
